4 apps to help you survive a long-distance relationship

Metro.co.uk

Having been in a long-distance relationship, I feel the pain for all you guys out there trying to make it work.

It’s difficult being with someone but not really ‘being with’ them when you need a hug, or want to go out and get ice cream.

Thankfully, we live in an age where you can contact your boo whenever you feel like it.
These apps will help you go one better, though, and feel closer together even if you’re hundreds of miles away.

1. Couple

This app is designed for couples in general, but works particularly well if you’re far apart.

It’s like a mini social network just for the two of you, where you can share pictures, videos, calendar dates, and messages. Saves you spamming everyone else’s social feeds with your mushy messages, and keeps everything all in one place.

Eventually you’ll build up your timeline, so you can look back on everything when you need a little pick-me-up.

Available on iOS and Android.

2. Klikaklu

If you want to do something sweet and spontaneous aside from just sending flowers, Klikaklu will let you make up scavenger hunts for your partner to go on.

Sounds a bit odd, but it’s actually super cute. You can organise ‘dates’ even if you’re not there, with clues to different destinations.

Available on iOS.

3. Dreamdays

There had to be a countdown app in here. This one is the gold standard of countdowns, allowing you to have multiple on the go at once, save voice memos, and customise background.

You can also share your milestones with family and friends on Twitter and Facebook. It makes waiting to see each other less of a chore and more exciting.

4. Good old iMessage

iMessage has loads of new features compared to the humble platform we once knew.

The cutest feature is Digital Touch, which looks like a love heart with two fingers. It allows you to send doodles, nudge your partner with a vibration on their phone, and even send your heartbeat.

As well as that you can send little video messages, voice notes, gifs and more. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
